BASE OF SOCIETY
Medium: Plastic, Light and Wood
Size: 40.5x96.5x40.5 cm
This work explores how a society is built basing on sacrifices of individuals. The dead faces on each painting are with different ages, genders and colours, which give the viewers a brief feeling of society. I use the dead bodies to represents these sacrifices. The technique of painting dead body is inspired by my grandfather’s corpse. Which water colours help to create the transparent skins and the feeling of veins expose slightly on the faces. From the top of the work, viewers are able to see clearly of each painting, and the layering feeling of the work, this is also why I put it on a lower table and place it in the middle of the room. Through the use of transparent board, they can see how these paintings overlaping to make a new shape that offers a very different picture to any of the individual paintings.
